The Argentine Wine Gift Guide: Christmas 2026 in Ireland
Every December someone asks me the same question: "What wine should I give?" A good bottle of wine is one of the easiest gifts to get right. It gets opened at the table, shared with people you love, and remembered. So this year I put together a short guide to the Argentine wines I would give, from a simple thank-you to a gift for someone who really loves wine.

Felipe Staiti Luz de Noche Malbec · €23.99
Our best-selling wine, and the one I open most at home. It is made by Felipe Staiti, guitarist of the Argentine rock band Enanitos Verdes, and named after one of their songs. The grapes are picked at night in Vista Flores, Uco Valley, and the wine is made without oak: fresh cherry and raspberry, soft and easy to love. A bottle that starts conversations.

The classic Argentine Malbec, from the Bressia family winery in Agrelo, Mendoza. Full-bodied and balanced, with red and black fruit and hints of vanilla, chocolate and coffee. A safe bet for anyone who loves red, and perfect with a Christmas roast beef.

Not a Malbec, but the bottle I give to Malbec lovers who want to try something new. A Burgundy-style Pinot Noir from Gualtallary, 1,200 metres up in the Uco Valley: red cherries, violets and a refined texture. It is also a great match for the Christmas turkey.

For the person who deserves something special. A single-vineyard Cabernet Franc from Gualtallary, 1,235 metres above sea level, awarded 97 points and Platinum by Decanter and 96 points by Tim Atkin. It is one of the best wines we bring to Ireland, and a bottle to keep for a special night.

The gift for a true collector. Malbec Argentino is one of the icon wines of Catena Zapata, the family that put Argentine Malbec on the world map. Its label tells ten centuries of Malbec history, from France to the Andes. Six bottles to open over the years, or to keep in the cellar. Very limited.
